Barbara Heck

BARBARA(Heck) born 1734 in the town of Ballingrane (Republic of Ireland), daughter of Bastian Ruckle Margaret Embury. Bastian Ruckle, daughter of Margaret Embury and Bastian Ruckle was born in Ballingrane in 1734. She got married Paul Heck 1760 in Ireland. They had 7 children from which four survived into childhood.

The person being investigated was either an active participant in an important event or made a unique proposition or statement that was documented. Barbara Heck however left no documents or correspondence, so the evidence for such matters as the date of her marriage is merely secondary. The lack of a primary source can be utilized to determine Barbara Heck's motives or the actions she took during her time. In spite of this she was a cult figure during the early days of Methodism. The job of a biographer is to account and explain the legend and identify if there is a real person hidden within it.

Abel Stevens, Methodist historian in 1866. Barbara Heck has taken the top spot in the New World's list of ecclesiastical leaders because of the growth of Methodism. It is due to the fact that the story of Barbara Heck is predominantly based upon her contribution to the great cause, and her name will forever be linked. Barbara Heck's role at the start of Methodism was an incredibly fortunate coincidence. Her fame can be attributed to the fact that a popular organization or group will glorify their origins, so that they can maintain connections to the past and remain rooted.
