Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). She and her family moved out of the country when she was three. Summer went to American and British schools as her family was living abroad. They returned to Pasadena shortly before her 14th birthday. Passionate about the idea of being an actor since when she was just five years old, Summer took her first acting class when she was 14 years old. Nine months later, she signed with an agent/manager to begin her full-time profession. She is currently pursuing her degree at college in her free time. She was among the young stars featured in Vanity fair's August 2008 cover feature, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Most Hot Kids in Hollywood". Bishil began her acting lessons when she was 14. Within a year, she signed a contract with an agency and manager. Her first appearance was on the short-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances in other children's shows.Bishil's breakthrough performance came as the lead in Alan Ball's film, Towelhead in 2007, an adaptation of the novel of the same title. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate who praised Bishil's performance was "the most honest thing" in the film, which, despite its best intentions appeared to be fake and mildly embarrassing. It was as if it was an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, who writes for various Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the finest natural actors to come out in recent times." In the September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is a "...newcomer performs an impressive and sassy performance in the role of Jasira. "In 2009, she shot Wayne Kramer's new project, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal which garnered praise from the Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender, and was supposed to be the protagonist of the planned , but never produced sequel.
