Charisma Carpenter

Charisma Carpenter (born July 23rd, 1970) is an American actress. Cordelia Chase was one of the characters in Buffy the Vampire Slayer's supernatural thriller series (1997-1999) as well as its spin-off series Angel (1999-04). She also appeared as Kyra in Charmed (2004), Kendall Casablanca's character in Veronica Mars (2005-2006), Rebecca Sewell in The Lying Game (2012-2013), and Lacy in The Expendables film series (2010-2012). Carpenter was born in Las Vegas (Nevada), the daughter of Christine Carpenter as the bird sanctuary's worker, and Don Carpenter, an entrepreneur. Carpenter is of Spanish (from her maternal grandfather), French, and German descent. Carpenter was a student at the Bishop Gorman high school in Las Vegas. Carpenter was an active member of a song-and dance troupe which was a part of Las Vegas Valley. Carpenter's family moved to Rosario Beach (Baja California, Mexico) when Carpenter was 15 years old. She attended Bonita Vista High School and Chula Vista School of the Creative and Performing Arts. After graduating, Carpenter traveled throughout Europe. She returned to San Diego and worked in the video store as an aerobics instructor, property management as well as a clerk. She also was a cheerleader for San Diego Chargers football in 1991. The team moved to Los Angeles in 1992. In 1991, Henry Hubbard Jr. attacked her and two of her male colleagues while swimming in San Diego. He was a former San Diego cop and serial rapist who tried to subdue them with a gunpoint. The two of them, Henry Hubbard Jr. and her friends were wounded in the fight. They both survived. Hubbard was detained and convicted, and sentenced to 56 years in prison, for a series of murders. Carpenter removed Hubbard's flashlight which was a police-issue flashlight, away from the beach. The flashlight was a crucial element of evidence against Hubbard.
