Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born to actresses Melissa D. Canaday, and Edward James Hyland in New York City. She started her career in the industry at the age 4 by doing commercial work and voice overs. The first film she made was Private Parts (1997). The Object of My Affection (1998) followed by Another World (1964) where she was "Rain Wolfe" who was a kid found in the park who was taken care of and nurtured by Josie. Sarah would continue to work alongside Amy Carlson ("Josie") at least twice: Falcone (2000) and Law & Order (1990) and Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was selected as one of the young "Audrey Hepburns" in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000) in the same year that she was also cast in the role of "Molly" in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999) with Kathy Bates, Audra McDonald, Alan Cumming, Victor Garber and Kristin Chenoweth. She also appeared in Joe Gould's Secret (2000) and Falcone (2000). Sarah studied voice, tap, jazz and hip-hop as well as film and TV work. Sarah, a New Yorker, was also an invited performer for her tap and Theatre dance classes at "Reel to Real" Lincoln Center. Her homeschooling was provided by her mother from 2nd grade. After that, she attended Public School. In 6th grade she was admitted to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School) in which she remained until 2008 when she graduated. Sarah at the time was 18, moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she landed an aircraft pilot named "My American Family". After being picked up, the name was changed to Modern Family (2009). Sarah is currently playing Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) won numerous awards, but the most notable was the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
