Amy Carlson

Born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Amy Carlson spent most of her early life in the Chicago region. Amy resided in GlenEllyn Illinois, right up to the time she was in junior college. There, her family also resided in Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at American School. Amy has two sisters, Betsy and Lori, along with a brother Joe. Amy has backpacked all over Europe with her entire family and independently. Both of them were teachers and were able to travel and camp together every summer because of this. They've camped in every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy also went to Rwanda following the 1994 war to aid in relief efforts. Amy was an accomplished actor in school plays and won writing contests. She was a promising athlete at high school and took part in the first ever 3200-meter relay in Illinois girls track. Following an injury, she could return to the stage and take on a variety of roles in plays, including Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's directorial "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was an Knox College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated with a B.A. East Asian history, with the concentration in Theater. Following graduation, she moved to Chicago and pursued a degree in Improv at the Improv Olympic. She also pursued acting at The Actor's Center. After graduation, she was offered a contract on the soap opera Another World (1964). The category she was nominated for is "Outstanding supporting actress in a Daytime Drama Series", she was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. The most memorable of her roles were of strong women, such as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen with Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson resides in New York City with husband Syd Butler, the bassist of Les Savy Fav, where she is also employed in the world of independent music as a part-owner of the independent label "Frenchkiss Records". Amy is continuing to write and search for diverse and distinctive roles in the world of film.
