Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to pursue a career as a professional ballet dancer. After watching her sister Katie in The Ladies Room movie set, Emily became fascinated by acting. Her career in acting began when she enrolled in classes. She also got guest spots on shows from her homeland of Canada. The TV shows she was a part of include Are You fearful to be in the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp made a breakthrough in his career following his appearance as an actor in the role of Sam Dolan on the WB Horror Mystery show Glory Days. Although the show received positive reviews, the series' low ratings ultimately led to it having to be canceled after only nine episodes. In spite of her May 12th, 1986 birth date her actress was offered a role on Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott.
